very bad product, with minimal use (1-2 T-shirts a day on average) it started to develop black spots (probably salts) that stick under the plate and now when I iron cotton fabric it doesn't glide over the fabric but feels like it's scratching it, the bad thing is that this blackness is very hard to remove, (a lot of rubbing with a damp cotton cloth the self-cleaning feature of the iron does nothing, all this with distilled water, so if I used tap water what would happen? buy something else
I got it for a rental house... but I tried it before leaving it... it irons just fine and for its price it's honest.. now for continuous use in a family, if others have taken it, let them say because I don't know about that
When I received it, it had water inside and unfortunately, I couldn't return it because it arrived on the day I was leaving for vacation. I let it dry, but when I put water in it again, it leaked rust onto the clothes; the water was inside for no more than 1 hour. Now I use it without steam.
I will agree with the other reviews. It was purchased for use by one person after reading the reviews. I was satisfied. It works as one would expect, from September 5, 2024, when I received it until today.
I've had it for about 2 years. It's perfect. My mother-in-law loves it too. When the time comes for a replacement, this is what she wants me to get her. It could just have a slightly longer cord.
Very satisfied with the purchase of this iron. In combination with the ceramic plate which makes ironing easier and the features it offers, I recommend it with closed eyes.
For one year now, and it is by far the best iron we have ever had. If we also consider its price.... then there is no doubt about whether one should buy it. Excellent!!!!
Simple, plain, and straightforward. Heats up quickly and does its job perfectly fine. Keep in mind that I am a single person living alone and I don't iron much, so I don't know if it would be suitable for a 4-member family, for example
It did well in all aspects, except for the following two, with the first being significantly important:
- The plate does not glide. It is acceptable for fabrics, but it is impossible to iron wool with this iron.
- At the beginning, it smelled like oil, probably due to the cable, but it improved over time.
Edit months later: the plate had some sort of residue that eventually disappeared and now it glides somewhat better. Also, the cable no longer has any odor. So, I do not regret the purchase. Therefore, I adjusted the rating accordingly.
For its price, it is good. As a main iron, it definitely struggles, but as a backup for a few clothes, it is okay. It is not very lightweight (but that is relative for everyone), but it is user-friendly. It heats up very quickly and for a simple steam iron, it has good steam. It glides smoothly on clothes and does not stick. It leaks water if it is set at a lower temperature than recommended. However, the instruction manual mentions and guides about this. For simple cotton, it does a good job without excessive pressure on clothes.
Honest for the price it was purchased (17.9), comparing it to another steam iron of the same category, it is significantly better. I will buy another one when its price drops again (19.9 today, 18/12/22).
What can I tell you guys, the iron is amazing, I highly recommend it and I was also surprised by reading the good reviews here and I bought it and I am amazed.
20 euros purchase, let's start from there. Singer, to replace a Philips that had broken plastic steam switches and had started to leak. The Singer is quite lighter. We are satisfied, especially for its price. The slightly short length of the cable is not such an issue, some may deduct a "star" because of it.
It is a very good steam iron, at a very good price.
I have had it for about two months and I haven't had any problems. It glides on clothes and irons very well, even thick folded fabrics. I believe that I iron faster and therefore save both time and energy as you finish in less time, thus burning fewer kilowatts during use!
I recently bought this iron. As a first impression and compared to its price, I am satisfied. What impressed me is that it heats up very quickly. I like the ceramic plate on the bottom because I compare it to my previous iron that didn't have ceramic. My old iron came with the press and probably broke due to minerals. Compared to that, this one seems a bit big, but I believe it's a matter of getting used to it. The rotating temperature knob turns very easily, meaning that you can accidentally touch it and change the temperature while ironing. I was considering not buying a Singer iron and trying another brand, but the features convinced me, especially considering the very good price! The iron will be used as a backup since I also have the press, so maybe my opinion won't be so representative. If anything changes along the way and I notice something negative, I will come back for further comments.
Update: After a few days of use, I have to add that I am still generally satisfied, but I noticed that with some fabrics, like acrylic, no matter how much I lowered the temperature on the iron, I can't describe it... it didn't stick exactly, but it was like the fabric was getting electrified, while when I iron the same fabric with the press, there is no such issue. Maybe the type of ceramic plate on the iron creates this problem, while the press, which has the classic plate, doesn't. I say again that you can't take my opinion into account because it's a backup iron and not the main one, but it works fine for cotton fabrics, which are usually the majority of what we iron.
It looks good. I will definitely write again, I bought it for 23 euros. I'm not in favor of the more expensive irons. Why should I spend 60 or 70 euros on a bunch of supposedly supernatural properties and excessively high wattage that will burn a lot of electricity for me? I just want a simple iron.
