My book deals with the style of Palestrina and specifically explores polyphonic issues. Its purpose was exclusively related to the history of the style, although its results had pedagogical consequences due to the relationship of the subject with theoretical issues of counterpoint. The nature of the matter also explains the fact that despite the effort of scientific formulation, the book was considered a teaching book on counterpoint in certain German universities, albeit perhaps with little success. However, I believe that from this very fact, it is possible to draw the conclusion that today there is a noticeable lack of a teaching book on counterpoint that takes into account the latest research on Palestrina's music. And this thought gave me the desire and the strength to complete this work. [...]
