August 2022 purchase for Tia's vacation outside Greece. It works perfectly without any issues. The battery lasted over 6-7 hours with both mobiles connected (I charged it around 20%). It also has an application that tells you how many GB it consumes, etc
The mobile with 4G reaches 100+ MBPS while the M7200 barely reaches 15 in the exact same spot, but I wanted it for the car, so the speed was enough for me (GPS, etc).
The battery with only one device connected didn't last more than 4 hours. Again, it doesn't matter because I don't take such long trips.
Within 4 months, the battery broke with a total of 10 hours of overcharging at most (it was at 100% and I left it charging), resulting in it not working at all now. When I turn it on, it shows a red full battery light and immediately shuts down.
It does NOT work without the battery inside, although the LEDs light up, TP-Link prevents it through the software.
With such little battery life, it's not even suitable for camping. If you're going to get it for a vacation home or another place with power supply, stay away, it's better to get a model that works without a battery.
Excellent for the money it asks, it would be good to have an indication of the battery level so that you don't have to open the application to check. I should add that it is very easy to carry, it fits in your pocket without being bothersome!
It is excellent and value for money. Its signal is strong and its battery lasts about 4 hours. Personally, I had it connected to the battery most of the time to avoid signal issues. I had 2 laptops and 2 mobile phones permanently connected to it and it was flawless.
It does its job perfectly fine!
Very useful if you have a data-only SIM (cheaper packages) for cases when you run out and don't want to pay a fortune to your provider for expensive data with a dropper or if you are in the village or if you frequently pretend to be the hotspot of the group!
Disadvantages:
1. It doesn't have a large battery, so it needs frequent charging.
If you have a power bank, it's good to have it with you when you're out in case you need it (after 8 hours of operation). It's not a major problem, you just carry a lot of gadgets.
TIP: It normally has a power saving mode (activated by its mother) but that only creates problems because if the device doesn't use the internet for 10 minutes, it disconnects. I was going crazy until I read in TP-Link's troubleshooting that if you disable it, you're good to go. Crisis averted.
2. The plastic casing is tragic. Very poor quality and feel, but it doesn't mean it's not durable (time will tell). It looks cheap and the glossy parts get scratched as soon as you remove the protective film. However, since it's not something you look at or show off, it doesn't bother me. I only mention it for aesthetic reasons.
3. It has a micro USB. (It would be more practical to have a USB-C so you don't have to carry extra cables or adapters).
If none of the above bothers you - which, in my opinion, is of minor importance - it is a very good mobile router and the speed is satisfactory. Recommended!
Installation was made in a shady spot in the countryside with a sim card for unlimited MB. It has a huge issue with its battery.
1. It doesn't work for more than 8 hours, maybe 5.
2. We would plug it in for charging and check the app to see if it was charging or if the battery percentage had increased, but it wouldn't go up (we tried 3 different chargers in case it was a charger issue, and also tried restarting the app in case it was frozen). Within 3 days, we managed to charge it twice up to 80%.
This is about the V3. It was purchased for use in a village where there is no landline phone. It is permanently connected to power as we are away for long periods and there is no possibility of charging. It uses a Vodafone giga boost card and its speed is more than enough for a tp-link IP camera.
It comes with an application with many capabilities, but you can only access it remotely if you are connected to its Wi-Fi.
I will come back after a satisfactory period of use.
I am returning after approximately a year of continuous operation.
A second IP camera was also installed, which - like the first one - is supported perfectly by the router.
On a day with very severe weather - lightning and thunder - the power went out. It was not possible to restore it until after 11 hours, and to my surprise, when the cameras started working again, I had a picture. This means that the router's battery lasted all that time and the router remained on. Of course, during those 11 hours, there was no internet activity of any kind since the cameras were off, but I did not expect it, so it was a pleasant surprise.
I repeat that - due to long periods of absence - the router is permanently plugged in and its battery is constantly charging, without any problems so far
Absolutely satisfied with the router. Bought it for around 40€ and using a Cosmote Unlimited SIM card. Easy to use and easy connectivity. It's 4G and personally, its speeds are sufficient for me. It has occasional but negligible disconnections. Quality construction despite being made of plastic. Small in size, about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Easy to carry with you everywhere. It did not show signs of overheating even when used in a warm environment. Charges relatively quickly but the battery life is average. It barely lasts for 6 hours of continuous operation, especially with heavy usage (2 devices connected). It has a power-saving mode and turns off if no device is connected within the time you set through the app. The app is useful and easy to operate, showing battery level and other necessary information. Overall, excluding the battery life which I consider to be average, it is excellent and I would buy it again.
It's worth it! ... definitely needs to install the app to monitor the battery.
On the negative side, only one:
sometimes it disconnects for a few seconds, but if you're playing online, it annoys you.
Maybe it's also the company's signal sometimes.
Generally satisfied! Get it if you find it for under 50€
I put a wind unlimited data card (bought from Omonia), easy to use, as soon as I inserted the card it worked immediately. It has connectivity up to about ten meters and the battery lasts around 6 hours. The only negative aspect is that it takes a while to charge. Overall, I am satisfied and I recommend it.
Although I prefer tp-link whenever I have the chance, this particular product, in its main characteristic, internet speed, is very mediocre. It has significantly lower speeds than my mobile at the same location with the same mobile company. Both are 4G (not 5G), my mobile reaches 100-150 Mbps download while the tp-link reaches 20-25 Mbps when its capability is up to 300 Mbps, so theoretically it should be able to reach the same speed as my mobile. I don't know if it's a general phenomenon with 4G modems, the inferior connection speed, but this specific one definitely disappointed me.
I only use it in August for 2 years. Suddenly, this year in the 3rd year, the devices stopped connecting to the internet. In total, it has worked for 2 months and 7 days before giving up.
It works perfectly!!!
I am very satisfied with both the coverage and the software on my mobile.
In fact, I connected it to a router that supports USB connection for LTE devices and it worked PERFECTLY!!
So far, the watch is working fine!
It could be a bit cheaper, but it's okay.
The only thing that needs attention is the following:
Never connect it to the computer for charging while it's turned on because it connects directly to the internet from it!
I'm still crying for the 20GB that the utorrent sucked up like water.
Update: 28/3/2020
1.5 years after purchase, it's difficult to open because the button doesn't work properly.
There are times when the WiFi shuts off on its own, and with a mobile phone in the same spot on 4G, it drops to 3G.
I am the owner of Huawei E5577Cs and after 1+ year of excellent performance, it broke due to an accident (water damage). I decided to buy something different and ended up with the Tplink M7200 due to its lower price. Note that its speed is 150mbps, not 300 as stated here. Although it is fast, this is not an issue. Another positive aspect is that its battery lasts much longer. However, everything else is negative. From the first time you hold it, you can tell the difference in build quality compared to Huawei. The second negative aspect is the regular screen with a wealth of information. This one only has 3 lights. It has a temperature safety feature that heats up quite a bit and often shuts down when using a large amount of data (e.g. two devices or playing online radio and using Facebook simultaneously). The other negative aspect was discovered when it was directly exposed to sunlight during the summer. For the same reason, I cannot use it and charge it at the same time and simply keep it near the window like I did with Huawei. It is very slow to restart, often requiring me to press the power button 2 or 3 times for an extended period to start up. It does its job, but for a few extra euros, I would not choose it again. I bought it for 70 euros and I am writing this after 3 months of use. Now that it is on sale, I would still prefer Huawei.
