The air purifier-ionizer Philco i-BREATHE 30+ absorbs dust, smoke, odors, helps protect against bacteria, fungi, and germs, offers clean air from dust and bacteria, and is ideal for smoking areas.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
"Old-fashioned" ionizer / cleaner. Its filters are very thin and small in size, and in less than a month the carbon filters and in about three months the "HEPA" filters need replacement. They are not worth the 25€ that the importer asks for these filters (which filters do not even fit properly and require patents to close the gaps). Prefer something more modern.
The previous model, I breath 30, I would say is better compared to the new 30+. Maybe even with a significant difference...
The new model makes a noise, and for those who are sensitive to noises, I would not recommend it.
Also, compared to the older model, which I have had for 4 years, it lacks a remote control and the auto function that activates every half an hour (which is important for me in terms of economy and because you don't have to bother with opening and closing it, you just have it there and forget about it).
I tried to find the older model, but unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere. Maybe I replaced it more for the noise issue.
I hope I helped!
Simple device, small in size. For local "supplementary" use when it is not convenient to open windows, do not expect it to clean the entire air in the house. If you operate it at low speed, it is not very noisy, but if you have cigarette smoke at low speed, do not expect miracles. The more polluted the room you want to clean, the higher the fan speed (and noise, at the third level) should be increased, but there we have more immediate results.
I want to add the very explanatory link regarding the use and comparison of the danger of UV-C and UV-A radiation. UV-C can produce ozone and with the Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) method that some devices have, it can be harmful. While this machine uses UV-A which will not burden us in the long run (as stated in a relevant article).

Having been completely satisfied with the i-Breathe 30, I decided to get the new model so that I wouldn't have to constantly move the cleaner from the living room. The philco offers everything for its price. Hepa and carbon filters, Ionizer, UV, and aroma.
Now, compared to the i-Breathe 30.
Neutral:
- They removed the auto mode (30min on - 30min off) which was very helpful for nighttime operation. However, it's not such a big loss.
Positive:
- The filter set remains the same and its cost is very low (25 euros per year). The effectiveness of the filters has satisfied me, and they have been tested against the pollution in Athens...
Positive (formerly Neutral):
- The fan is somewhat quieter than the i-Breathe 30. However, when it's running, there is a buzzing sound from the power supply, which probably offsets the gain. Depending on the flooring (wooden or tiled), the buzzing sound can be either annoying or not. Ultimately, in the bedroom (wooden floor), it bothers me a little more on the 1st speed compared to the i-Breathe 30, which doesn't have a buzz.
Update (27-11-2020): Pleasant surprise! Tonight, the buzzing sound has significantly decreased. So, we probably have a positive change!
Update (30-11-2020): The buzzing sound has noticeably decreased. I would say it has almost disappeared. So, I can say that especially on speed 1, it is now particularly quiet. Also, I should mention that the buzzing sound is slightly more intense when the ionizer is operating. With the ionizer turned off, it is almost non-existent. Therefore, the i-Breathe 30+ is quieter than the i-Breathe 30, making it my choice for the bedroom. If anything changes in the future, I will provide an update.
Negative:
- The side covers no longer have a pre-filter to prevent large volumes of odors from entering the interior.
- The i-Breathe 30 had a 5W UV-C lamp at 925nm perfectly isolated between the 2 filters. This specific lamp is absolutely effective for sterilization. The i-Breathe 30+ has a series of UV LED lights. The manual states that they are 0.5W at 350nm, which is UV-A and outside the sterilization range. These are the same LEDs used in various object sterilization boxes sold on the market during the time of the coronavirus. I have serious doubts about their effectiveness. On the positive side, UV-A is less harmful to humans. There are studies that say that with 3W/m2, it can disinfect a surface in 8 hours. Additionally, there is light leakage from inside the filter.
- The i-Breathe 30 had a remote control. The i-Breathe 30+ does not.
Overall:
- Prefer the i-Breathe 30 over the 30+ if you can find it somewhere. It is overall more high-quality and has more capabilities.
At speed 1, it is quiet but unfortunately it doesn't do anything (at least for me who bought it because I smoke, space of about 15 square meters). At speed 2, it does something but the noise is a bit annoying. At speed 3, it also does a good job even in spaces larger than 20 square meters, but personally I can't stand this constant noise! I will use it for the bedroom at speed 1 and for a larger space, I will probably prefer something else.
In a 30sqm space it is extremely effective!
After one year of operation, the filters are relatively okay, they will need to be changed in 6 months, not every 2-3 months like in other machines. Another positive is that it has 1 activated carbon filter, with a mesh and a front filter, and another thicker filter, which precedes the activated carbon and collects dust and smoke. On the low setting, it is quiet, on the medium setting, it is just fine.
