Description
A horribly disfigured corpse is found in the courtyard of Crassus' mansion. The only clues left behind by the killer are a bloodstained cloak and the word "Sparta" carved into the stone in front of the body.
The steward of Marcus Crassus, the loyal Lucius, has been murdered, apparently by two Greek slaves who escaped to join their fellow countryman and rebel, Spartacus. The wealthy and powerful Crassus swears to honor an old law that gives him the right to slaughter his ninety-nine slaves within three days.
Meanwhile, Gordian the Finder receives a sudden visit from a mysterious client in Rome, who asks him to find the murderer of the steward in less than three days.
Gordian will embark on this new adventure unsuspecting, not realizing how dangerous it can be for everyone he loves, even for his own life.
An exciting and adventurous novel featuring Gordian the Finder, by the virtuoso of the genre, Steven Saylor.
