Description

The Greek edition of the monumental work by Gregory Bateson is a publishing event! Not only because it is a life's work of one of the greatest holistic thinkers of the 20th century, but also because it is the first of his books to be published in Greek.

The author attempts to "define the nature of the interface between the sphere of the mind and physical reality," building a new way of thinking that he calls the "ecology of mind." In contrast to Freudian psychology, which expanded the concept of the mind within the individual, Bateson expands the mind beyond the individual. The mind is considered inherent in the broader biological system and in the overall evolutionary structure. "We are no longer talking about the survival of an entity enclosed in skin, but about the survival of ideas in a circuit."

This invaluable book concerns not only those involved in the fields it refers to, such as anthropology, psychiatry, biological evolution, genetics, epistemology, etc., but also a wider reading audience, in order to become acquainted with an innovative way of thinking that opens up new perceptual fields. Bateson offers the resounding challenge of a disruptive, ecological way of thinking, so that each of us can understand, reflect upon, and redefine ourselves and the world of which we are a part, and share with it the vision of a world where "wisdom" prevails and "love" survives.
