The Panasonic GH5S is the successor to the GH5 and, in addition to top-notch photography, it is ready and equipped to offer you stunning 4K video, even for professional productions. With a 21.7MP Live MOS sensor, rotating screen, ISO 800-51200, and 4K video recording, you couldn't expect anything less.
The GH5S achieves the highest level of accuracy and image quality ever showcased by the Lumix series. This is thanks to the combination of the latest generation sensor with Dual Native ISO technology and the Venus processor. Dual Native ISO technology is a Panasonic innovation that offers you a high level of detail while keeping noise to a minimum.
It allows you to record unlimited 4K video, and with 10-bit color, all details will appear clearer than ever. With more than 1 billion colors and 4 times more shades than 8-bit, the recording result will be highly professional.
It can handle multiple aspect ratios so you can express yourself freely in your shots and frames, while thanks to the 10x Slow Motion function and VFR (Variable Frame Rate) function, your creativity goes one step further.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
It has been used for filming in short films, internet advertisements, interviews, timelapses, social media content, music videos, etc. as the primary body and its performance has never disappointed. It has also been used alongside Blackmagic and Lumix GH6 as a secondary body, and with the right coloring, you can't see a difference in the final result. Its main advantage is the Dual Native ISO, which is 800 and 5000 ISO when shooting in V-log L, while in simpler profiles and in cine D, it is 400 and 2500 ISO. Therefore, the image remains clean in difficult lighting conditions. Some other features that make it a powerful camera are the 14-bit raw photography, exceptional menu, the ability to use any lens with adapters due to the m4/3 sensor, excellent battery life, up to c4k video at 60fps, ProRes Raw 12-bit and Braw 12-bit via full HDMI, and the synchro scan that greatly helps in specific lighting conditions such as cheap par lights at receptions, etc., which may cause flicker and it completely removes it through the adjustment of Hz. The preamps for sound are excellent, so with a good microphone or lav on the camera, you have very good scratch audio.
- Do not expect good autofocus, especially with adapters.
- It does not have IBIS (in-body image stabilizer), which is a reason for purchase for those who do VFX and CGI.
- For stable moving shots, you need a gimbal due to the absence of a stabilizer or a good rigging with a cage or shoulder rig for a proper handheld look.
Excellent in low light conditions! The build quality could be better. Designed for video with unique features such as waveform monitor, vectorscope, syncroscan. Capability to record prores raw via an external recorder. The only thing missing is a good stabilization system.
