After some updates, the features it had, which were also found in more expensive phones, were reduced so I stopped updating it. After almost 5 years of ownership, maybe the water protection it had betrayed me. So, 5 days after an accident with water, the screen burned out. Did you find this review helpful?I bought it in August 2018, for 450 euros. Incredible phone in every aspect. Impeccable battery, front and back photos, submerged in water many times. This year, with a loaded memory card and phone memory, with many applications and open tabs in Chrome, it started to lag. (Normal). It fell into water, on a rock, the waterproofing was damaged and slowly the screen started turning purple. Despite all this, the phone works normally even with a burnt screen. The fingerprint still works! It had many strong falls as a phone without suffering any damage, neither internally nor externally. Samsung asked for 120 euros for its repair, but on the other hand, it is a phone that is over 4 years old. It was worth every penny and more.

The phone continues to work flawlessly with only two negatives: the (changed) battery, which with open data & GPS will barely last me 10 hours, and the fact that it has lost some of its speed, probably due to upgrades and an outdated processor.
No issues with any of its functions. No freezing. A model of reliability.
Also, it cannot be updated beyond Android 9.
The above applies to someone who is looking for a used phone.

I bought this phone in 2018 for my daughter, and when she switched to an iPhone (2 years ago), I kept it for myself, replacing a J5 that I had since 2015.
It is the 3rd Samsung phone I have, and I will definitely buy Samsung again.
Regardless of their specs, they have never, EVER let me down.
I am not a demanding user. Social media, calls, and in the summer, GPS and photos. Satisfied on all fronts.
Only the battery has deteriorated and it is difficult for it to last 12 hours. But I think it's normal for its age.
In addition to the above, I must mention the excellent and prompt service at the Samsung service center in Thessaloniki, which I needed when I installed an app that caused it to freeze and I couldn't add a new contact.
Unfortunately, I don't know which model to replace it with, as I see that either they will have issues with small batteries or they will have eliminated the headphone jack (which I need).
PS: If you want DSLR-level photos, get a DSLR. A sensor the size of half a thumbnail will never have the performance of a regular one. And of course, a lens with a diameter of 1cm will never have the performance of a 10cm one.Translated from Greek ·- Call quality

Now, on a daily basis, several times a day, the screen stops responding and freezes. Pressing the buttons in combination or even by itself restarts it afterwards, but it is now tiring and I cannot do my work. For these 3.5 years I used it to the fullest and it definitely paid off and I would continue to use it for sure if it didn't have this problem.

It doesn't lag much, if at all, the cameras perform quite well, almost as they did when I bought it, and it is capable of handling different tasks simultaneously.
Everything I mentioned was at its maximum level until the second year. After that, it started to decline, but it still remains a very good quality phone.

Did you find this review helpful?In general, I am satisfied with this mobile phone and I continue to use it two years later without having high demands. For those who want to buy a new one, I would suggest looking elsewhere as this phone has been on the market for 2-3 years. Its positives include the screen, which has nice colors and good resolution (amoled), although its brightness is not so great - definitely a problem under the Greek sun. Its older generation is evident from the bezels it has, while newer generations either do not have them or have them to a much lesser extent. I am also not so impressed by the navigation bar that replaced the permanent buttons of older phones - in some applications, it does not disappear and takes up part of the - already small - screen. It was an issue that initially annoyed me, but I found a solution by using full screen gestures with indicators at the bottom constantly. For me, its relatively small size is a positive, although for others it may be a negative. They say the screen is 5.7'', but with the - elongated - resolution it has, it seems smaller - for example, in applications like YouTube, there will be a black border on the screen. The speaker is nothing special and generally in these mid-range phones, the first thing that is sacrificed is the speaker. It is not stereo nor does it have stereo effects. The sound, however, supports Dolby Atmos.
The processor it has is a mid-range Samsung, slightly inferior to those of MediaTek and Snapdragon, but it wins in optimization, so it is one and the same. In demanding 3D games, it has issues, but for simple games, it is fine. The battery is at 3000mAh, normal for the time it was released, but small by today's standards. It performs quite well, but do not expect it to last you the whole day. It is good not to charge the phone to 100% if you want the battery to last, I have a rule to charge it up to 80% unless necessary, and not let it drop to 0%, and based on these rules, two years later the battery continues to perform quite well. The 32GB ROM it has is a bit low - but from the beginning, I have been using an SD card to transfer videos, photos, and some app data, so all is well here. There is also a 64GB version. I did not notice any lag with the 4GB of RAM it has, although it is good to use an app to "clean" the phone from unnecessary files every now and then. The rear camera it has is OK - personally, I heard quite a few negatives about it, but the photos it takes are not bad - even the ones taken at night - although it seems to have issues with photos in motion as it does not stabilize and focus. It is a single camera, and the strange thing about this phone is that it has a dual front camera, so they gave more weight to selfies and social media use rather than photos. However, even here, the single rear camera has been surpassed by the multiple camera systems used in new phones. The video camera personally did not impress me, it also has stabilization issues in fast movement and is only 1080p - although the photos support 4k, another area where Samsung made compromises.
The mobile phone looks quite beautiful, of course the glass surface on the back may give it style but it makes it slippery in the hand so the presence of a case is necessary. It seems quite durable, after all it is relatively thick compared to more expensive models and the 1-2 times it fell nothing happened to it, also I use it without tempered glass in front and I have not had any scratching issues etc. Samsung continues to support software security upgrades which is positive. What disappointed me a little is that it does not have the ability to activate it from the alarm clock while it is closed, which means it must be in continuous standby mode for the alarm clock to work - while my old mobile phone had this capability. For two years now it has not presented any serious problems to me - except for a couple of times when while I was using it suddenly stopped working and the screen did not turn on. I had to connect it to the charger and enter the boot menu and restart it in those cases but then it was OK. Finally, the fingerprint scanner is in the right position on the back and in the middle of the phone and for some it will be considered quite slow although for me it is not a significant issue. Initially it was very expensive but two years later it presents some issues to me.
Overall, it is a nice mid-range mobile phone and very stable in its performance. Of course, if you want something better from the same brand you will have to go for more expensive phones, after all that's why it's mid-range, you get what you pay for. It worked for me anyway.

It can handle PUBG without any lag, but of course, everything is set to the lowest settings. For everyday use and basic functions, it doesn't lag, it's quite fast. It didn't disappoint me, I chose Samsung a thousand times over anything else. But to tell the truth, I don't use it anymore because I play games for many hours every day and watch movies, and I wanted a phone with a slightly bigger screen. Since winter 2019, I have the Note 10+.

1) Its memory is full, 32 GB is very little now. You will definitely need an additional memory card.
2) The battery has weakened, it hardly lasts the day. I have had to charge it in the middle of the day and it still runs out by the evening.
3) Due to its small RAM (4GB), it often freezes and heats up quickly.
4) Finally, I don't think it's worth the money anymore because now you can buy a mobile phone with the same or better features at a much lower price.Nevertheless, it still holds up after 2 years but it has "aged" a lot and I will need to change device. After 3 Samsung devices, I will not make the same mistake of getting another one. I will probably end up with a Xiaomi or Huawei device!

Very sturdy construction with a HUGE advantage of being a waterproof device, not just water-resistant.
Many customization options for the device and simply perfect screen in any outdoor lighting scenario and viewing angle.
Its use includes long duration calls, internet browsing, corporate email (boxer), music, messenger - viber - zoom, youtube, google maps, office suites.
I wouldn't say that its performance in terms of speed has dropped significantly, but the battery power has definitely decreased, to the point where it may not last a whole day starting from a full charge, depending on usage.
It adequately handles all modern applications without serious freezing or delays.
It cannot receive the Android 10 upgrade, but it doesn't seem to affect any of its functions.

+ As a phone, it is excellent, smooth operation in everything, good and bright cameras, but now much cheaper models surpass it, AMOLED screen, 4G signal and WiFi, WiFi-direct files transfer, compatibility with everything.
- Bokeh only on the front camera, wide-angle lens only in the front, battery.It is better than the Xiaomi ones for 150€ (Note 8, Mi A3... that I have in my possession) everywhere except for the rear camera, and a weaker processor that you don't notice in everyday use.
