The watermelon is rubbish. It managed to work for about 4 months and then suddenly it got stuck. When I open it, it shows the logo and keeps restarting. I did a reset and nothing happened. I remove the battery and put it back in and still nothing. I contacted TP-Link's technical support who informed me that this category of modems does not receive visits, so I wasted my money for nothing.
Very useful for remote working with 4G. MUCH better than sharing data from your mobile phone, as it usually has a better and more stable signal, and its wifi is superior to the mobile phone's hotspot.
The machine is excellent. You forget about disconnections, etc. I am involved in live streaming, etc. The internet speed, both download and upload, is quite high. I live in a difficult area for signal (surrounded by mountains, etc.). With the red telecommunications company, I didn't have good speed, but with the green one, I get 40 to 50 download and 10 to 13 upload. Considering the area I live in, it has saved me. We must also not forget that with 4G, you need to find the right placement for the router. The connection is simple, you insert the sim, access the tp link mifi from the laptop (instructions are included), first password is admin, then you go to advanced settings, create a new profile with a random name, type in internet for the apn, authentication: none, and save. Also, the mobile application is very good, with the ability to block and unblock mobiles that may bother you while you are online and dealing with work requirements. The battery lasts for 12 hours without any problems. At 2.4 GHz (there is also the option for 5 GHz), the Bluetooth is good for any other device to be turned off
The product is excellent! Very small (slightly larger than a mobile charger!) and it has a very good signal, reaching up to 50Mbps indoors with Vodafone in the countryside (finally, 4k YouTube videos!). It is expensive, but for someone looking for reliability and durability over the years, I think it's worth it. The battery lasts quite a long time, it can be connected to a computer via USB, which works as an Ethernet to maintain speed, and it also has an SD card slot for additional file sharing over the network. I have version v1.1.
Before the end of the first year, my router started constantly resetting. The response from the store and TP-Link was excellent. I sent back the old one and they replaced it with a new one. Now it works just as flawlessly as before. Speeds range from 50 to 100 Mbps (I have even reached up to 120!)
I bought this particular model for its "up to 600Mbps" promise. I know that there are many factors to achieve such a speed, without having specialized technical knowledge, and I knew that it was most likely that I wouldn't reach this limit. I was hoping for the best possible outcome. However, my experience so far, with a data sim from Vodafone, in Athens and various areas including the city center, is that I get at most 70-80 Mbps. Of course, the provider plays a role.
The speed it reaches is equivalent or worse than what my iPhone 13 Pro Max achieves on its own. So, the question arises whether it's worth getting this or connecting the devices to the mobile phone to have internet access.
To have a speed better than that of a "good" mobile phone, I would say no, but there is the significant advantage of the management facilities that TP-Link provides, which among other things, supports up to 32 devices to be connected. I haven't tested it with that many devices, but it works fine with 4-5.
My advice is to try, if possible, the speeds you can achieve with this device, if it satisfies you, and if you are interested in the ability to manage the various connected devices. It's possible that the version with lower speed, which is also cheaper, may suit you, since the "up to 600Mbps" is probably not achievable in Greece at the moment.
I want to note that on Skroutz, there is a version 1 and another one, version 2. I searched extensively and couldn't find version 2 anywhere until the time of purchase on TP-Link's official website. I found versions 1 and 1.1.
My rating is based on what I have experienced in practice since I cannot know if it could actually deliver what it promises in some other country or network, always regarding the connection speed.
After 15 days of use as my main internet access, the only thing I have to observe is that during video calls (zoom, skype, etc.) it struggles and displays a message that the connection is not stable, even though the computer is right next to it. This practically means that every 10-15 minutes it experiences a small freeze for a few seconds. Other than that, it works flawlessly for anything else. Even HDR from Netflix plays without any issues.
Value for money. I used it all summer without caring at all if there is WiFi wherever I was. Very fast for 4G even with 2 or 3 connected devices simultaneously. I give it 4 stars because I would like a touch screen instead of the 2 buttons on the left and right, as well as a slightly larger screen. The mobile application is satisfactory. I highly recommend it
The little router guys is worth it and more with the cosmote I have it has given me more mbps than the 600 it gives. Not to mention that it is easy to install and its price is value for money and very fast and I definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to have internet everywhere and always. Not to mention that its battery is a beast. And for more complete control, you can download the tpmifi application on your mobile and fully support 2.4 and 5.0 GHz. I say it again, I recommend it guaranteed.
The difference from the Huawei router that Cosmote provides with its mobile wifi is chaotic. We're talking about day and night. With full bars on the signal, the Tpilink will reach the promised 600Mbps without any problem and consistently.
I found myself in a place with 4G but without any bars on the signal, and still, it reached 200+ when the Huawei couldn't reach 100.
The installation and setup are very easy with a super user-friendly application on your mobile that offers a great degree of control. For more advanced options (port forwarding), someone will have to access it through a browser.
Very good battery and even better the feature with smart battery usage. When, for example, the wifi is not being used, it goes into standby mode to save energy.
It offers both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
Highly recommended.
Very good device. With Cat11 modem, theoretically it reaches a maximum speed of 600 Mbps, but practically it is considerably lower, depending on the mobile network you connect it to and the cells available in your area (to combine them and perform carrier aggregation, up to 3CA). With Cosmote, it easily reaches speeds of 200+. Very good settings through the tpMiFi application and web UI. Great autonomy thanks to the 3000mAh battery. A major advantage is that it still functions even without a battery. Overall, a complete device at a fairly reasonable price for what it offers.
