This particular (black cable with stainless steel) has a rubber coating of some kind. Personally, it bothers me because it sticks to the hands, whereas, for example, the completely black matte one did not have such an issue.

Very good stethoscope. Very good quality, like all Littmanns. Clearly better acoustics than the SE II I had before. It's generally worth it, although I don't know how it compares to the larger models.
