The PLA filament is available in many shades, and there are different types under the brand Real. PLA (polylactic acid) filament is one of the oldest and still the most commonly used materials in the 3D printing community, mainly due to its advantages as a versatile and environmentally friendly thermoplastic.

It is biodegradable and organic, and it can be easily combined with other materials to affect its final properties, such as flexibility and metallicity. Real PLA has a transparent white color and has a printing temperature between 195 - 205 degrees (depending on the characteristics of the print head). The darker shades of Real may require a few additional degrees of temperature due to the coloring process.

The filament should extrude smoothly and appear slightly glossy. PLA is denser and more durable than ABS, but it is more brittle and prone to cracking under high loads. It is also less resistant to external factors (UV light and water) compared to other common thermoplastics (such as Nylon, ABS, and PETG).

PLA prints well on a non-heated surface using blue tape or Kapton tape, as well as the majority of 3D printing adhesives. For ease of use, it is recommended to use sprays like 3DLAC on glass surfaces. A low surface temperature between 50 - 60 degrees further reduces the likelihood of warping and makes it easier to remove the printed product when the surface has cooled down.
