The lens for Micro Four Thirds offers a focal length of 32mm (35mm equivalent) with the same f-number 1.4. This is the large-diameter wide-angle lens that mirrorless camera users have been waiting for. Developed to feature a lightweight, compact package for everyday use, SIGMA DN lenses for mirrorless cameras offer superior performance covering the essential focal lengths. This lens effectively minimizes optical aberrations and offers exceptional resolution throughout the aperture range. The optical design provides smooth autofocus during video shooting, while it features special sealing for dust and splash protection.

We're not just talking about a value for money lens. We're talking about an AMAZING lens whose results most of the time reach perfection. 5 Stars easily.
It is one of the few lenses in this price range of the system that can create a visible difference in depth of field separation from the subject and the background (the so-called bokeh). Extremely sharp and without softness at the edges at all apertures. I was also impressed by the minimal, almost zero CA in areas of high contrast, even when fully open.
If someone is looking for a lens in the MFT system, close to a wide-angle to normal focal length (32mm in Full Frame equiv.), this is the lens they are looking for. The only drawback is its weight, but you can't have it all with such wide apertures.
Must have lens...
For those who specifically want to have it for videos or landscape photos, especially at night, they should start from here. I can't find anything negative to write.
I have it on a6000 and a6500
Owner of A6000, I agree that with this lens it's like buying a new camera. It's a huge upgrade. The weight of the lens is not a problem at all, as it is so light overall (camera with lens) that it's not even noticeable, not even tiring.
Surely it is a heavy lens but it is worth both its money and its weight. The f1.4 is fantastic but also dangerous (with the shallow depth of field, you can find yourself with blurry faces). I have taken very good photos at the beach when the sun is setting or with backlighting. I highly recommend it. (The photo with the grapes has no editing.)
Greetings from me,
I also bought the Sigma recently, after a lot of searching on forums, comparison videos, reviews, and comments here... I really feel like I bought a new camera! I was using the Sony A6000, which I was very satisfied with, I just wanted to take a step further by buying an excellent (as it turns out) lens, without spending a fortune...
Obviously, each of us has different needs that adapt to our photographic concerns, so not all lenses are suitable for everyone. I wanted a wide lens suitable for landscape photography, and I consider this lens to be the ultimate value for money. It is extremely fast, accurate, bright (huge aperture), sturdy with amazing build quality, has incredible sharpness and color rendition, and a very precise manual focus ring. The only theoretical drawback is the weight, which, however, is manageable with use (the camera becomes quite front-heavy). It does not have optical stabilization, so I consider the use of a gimbal necessary for video recording, unless you use the A6500, which has in-body stabilization.
I hope I didn't bore you, happy shopping and happy shooting!!
EDIT: After a year of using the lens, I am thrilled. Of course, I have expanded my collection with other lenses, but this one works incredibly well for astrophotography and overall night shots with its huge aperture. As an example, I uploaded a recent photo taken with this lens.
I have an amazing lens on my Em10 miii and as soon as I attached it, the image quality changed. Tremendous sharpness and great performance for low light photography
The lens doesn't exist, I got it by reading comments in here and I reached the point of saying that you write few !!!! This lens is worth every euro, it is amazing !!!!
This lens is the definition of an upgrade. You simply leave the 16-50 kit somewhere that doesn't take up space (in the attic), attach the 16mm sigma lens, and reintroduce yourself with your camera.
High construction quality.
A year later, I can confidently say that it is a clear and fast lens with exceptional results in all shooting conditions that I have tested it in.
It is well worth its money.
I highly recommend it.
I evaluate after 1 month of use. The camera I am using is the Sony a6000 and mainly I shoot videos. The lens works wonders... compared to the kit lens 16-50, it's like day and night. You go straight to a completely different level, it's like having a different camera. It's very sharp, very bright, very good autofocus, sturdy, and has a quality build. I am very satisfied with the work I want it for. I highly recommend it if you want to reach this level for a lens. You get what you pay for!
It is very sharp and the 1.4 helps you a lot in low light conditions but also gives you the ability to create something more artistic in both video and photography.
It is the most Value for Money wide-angle lens for Sony E Mount.
Extremely sharp, with fast auto focus (although not a native Sony lens), naturally very bright due to its aperture (1.4) - ideal for low-light conditions, but also weather sealed. Clearly, as a wide-angle lens, it has significant chromatic aberration at the edges, but this is immediately corrected by the camera or later with an image editing program like Lightroom.
At first, it may seem somewhat large in size compared to other prime crop lenses, but as you go along, you realize that it has the ideal size for everyday use. This particular lens is widely used by many YouTubers mainly for vlogging due to its focal distance (16mm in the crop system - 24mm in full frame). The lack of stabilization is its only negative characteristic, so for video use, it is necessary to combine it with a gimbal.
There are many videos on YouTube where you can see the cinematic result that this lens provides. Moreover, by acquiring the other two bright prime lenses from Sigma (the 30mm 1.4 and the new 56mm 1.4), one has a complete lens system. The only thing missing from the Sony mount, and what all owners of such cameras are asking for, is a bright zoom lens with a fixed aperture. We hope that if not Sony, at least Sigma will listen to us and release such a lens.
