"I can't," I told him. "I can't!"
"Are you sure?" he asked me.
"Yes. I would very much like to be able to stand in front of her and tell her how I feel... But I know I can't."
The Fat Man sat like Buddha on those horrid blue armchairs in his office. He smiled, looked me in the eyes, and, lowering his voice as he did every time he wanted to be listened to carefully, he said:
"Let me tell you a story..."
And without waiting for me to agree, Jorge began to narrate.
Demian is a restless young student trying to discover himself. His quest leads him to the "Fat Man," a very eccentric psychoanalyst who helps him face life and find answers to his questions in a very original way: in each session, he tells him a story, classic or modern, "Eastern" or "Western," stemming from popular oral tradition or directly from the "Fat Man's" imagination. The stories start to function as parables, and Demian quiets his anxieties and insecurities, maturing rather than finding "ready-made solutions" and "recipes for happiness"... The relationships between therapist and patient are not - nor are they expected to be - conventional. Arguments, disagreements, sympathy, antipathy, hatred, and love are freely expressed, thus creating two unique literary characters with flesh and blood, endearing and familiar to the reader. There is no relation here to the stereotype of the psychoanalytic couch and the reclining sufferer. The dialogue and exchange of experiences and opinions, interspersed with excellent storytelling, place "Let Me Tell You a Story" in the category of literary books, regardless of whether it is globally categorized under the label: "Self-awareness and self-help books."

I can't say it's the best I've read. I found it very tiring to read. The examples are nice, but I prefer a novel that keeps my interest throughout.. the truth is I was swayed by the positive comments.. I don't agree..
I think it is the second most beautiful book I have read so far (The first is "Think Like a Monk" by Jay Shetty)!
It has so many truths, so many accurate things, so many clever points.
It consists of small independent stories with a background story and they are all gems!!!
I might read it again in the future!
It will easily be recommended to friends and will also be a gift!
Jorge Bucay is an excellent psychologist. His writing is so essential. Every sentence of his is worth it, let alone every story in this book. We are talking about self-improvement with all the essence of the word.
5 Stars are not enough. One of the most easy-to-read and essential books I have ever read. You can even read a little bit every day as each story is a separate chapter. Don't hesitate at all.
Definitely one of the best books I have read. All these stories are Food for thought. I believe that every time someone reads it, it will offer them something.
Significant conclusions and life lessons that emerge from stories in the form of fairy tales. Easy to read and understand.
Very nice meaningful little standalone stories for life. Ideal for someone who wants to read a little bit every day
Today I finished it! What a great self-improvement book!
Through stories, the author helps the reader to think instead of immediately giving them his professional interpretation (Jorge Bucay is a psychotherapist). I still remember my reaction at the end of the first story... WOW.. AMAZING!
An excellent book for every teenager-adult! Each story is a life lesson!! It made me immediately buy 3 more by Jorge Bucay, which are equally good.

Conclusion
Really, anyone who has never read a book in their life (like me) will love it!!! You won't get bored at all.
These are stories with deep meaning and life lessons that are solutions to inevitable problems we all face.
Amazing, worth it a thousand times.
The book is exactly as described, a dialogue between the student and Jorge.
What is interesting is that it explains things to you using many small stories-parables and allows you to draw your own conclusions.
On the contrary, in other psychology books, they load you with theories that often don't make sense and don't apply to everyone. In this book, if you don't understand the story, nothing happens. If you understand the stories, you can use them as a topic of conversation with your friends in the appropriate occasion.
Perhaps one of the best books I have read
Wonderful tender for young and old!
