When a product does exactly what you want it to do in the simplest way possible: Brita filters the tap water and cleans it from dirt, sediment, and most importantly, salts. This specific pitcher is for medium use, for small families, it holds about one liter of clean water, which is equivalent to 4 cups/glasses. I got this size to fill my kettle with, which I use to make tea all day. The kettle was filled with salts, now it's clean. The instructions say to change the filter every month, but depending on the water quality, it can last less or more. I change it every three months, so with €20 filters, I get a year's worth. I've been using Brita for almost 40 years and I've never had any problems, I highly recommend it!
NOTE: if you live in an area with very bad water, using the "small" Brita is not cost-effective, as the filter will clog up quickly. There are "larger" filtration systems available that cost a little more but last much longer

  I had an old BRITA jug before, and it was good. I got the new model, the blue one, which has a larger capacity, and you don't need to remove the entire lid to fill it at the tap.
  While it was working with its own filter, everything was fine. It took a long time to filter the water, and to finish the process, so I could use it, but okay.

  I looked at prices to get a new filter, and they were all very expensive. I got a copy, it didn't work. It didn't flow. I made some adjustments with aluminum foil, in the hole it has at the bottom, and it didn't touch the jug's valve. Sometimes it flows, sometimes it doesn't flow.

  I used an unused filter I had from the old BRITA, neither that worked, nor with the adjustments.

  Now I am thinking of buying an Original filter once, out of curiosity and just to see if it will work. And then hide the jug in the depths of the cupboard. If not, throw it away.

  Okay, they also want to sell their own filters. But, lower the price a bit...... Every month so much money??? To drink water????

  If the water conductivity is above 200, don't waste your money on it....mine is around 800 and it does nothing...I have passed the same water over 10 times and it only reduced it to 710, wasted money...completely unsuitable for drinking...fortunately, I have the machine and I measure it...but if someone doesn't know about these things...unacceptable, they should inform people that such conductivity can damage your kidneys over time.

  Athens has relatively good water compared to other areas. A measurement I made on tap water with a TDS meter showed 145 ppm (this is the hardness of the water and the content of micro particles, salts, heavy metals, etc.). Keep in mind that the bottled waters I have tested and tested range from 100-120.

  The jug produced a result of 60-70 when filtering tap water. It is made of plastic, but even though it is plastic, it is BPA FREE, which means it is as good as a glass one because it does not contain the carcinogenic elements of plastic. So that is clear.

  It holds a total of 3.5 liters. However, the filtered water it holds is 2 liters. The water has a slightly stiff and slightly bitter taste. But it is crystal clear. The taste is accustomed within 2-3 days and it is the taste of water without chlorine, dirt, salts, etc.

  Especially when you drink from the tap afterwards, it seems that the water has a slight taste and smell, and I repeat, Athens has good water in general.

  The jug has 2 parts, the top where the tap water goes and the bottom which is the clean part. It takes about 40 seconds to filter a glass of water (220ml). But that's not a problem because you can fill it and put it in the fridge (if it fits because it's big) and it does the process on its own.

  The filters cost about 5-6 euros and need to be changed every month. They should not be kept for longer because there is a chance they will develop mold inside and not filter the water properly. Each filter filters 100 liters of water or 4 weeks. It is changed depending on what comes first between the two.

  It has a time indicator to change it on top of the month. Not the volume of water though. But it also changes the taste of coffee from the espresso machine due to the water!

  Also, coffee makers and kettles do not catch salts as often...

  It is worth it and does the job. It is recommended to put the jug in the fridge to keep the water unchanged. It's just quite big and difficult to fit in small and medium-sized refrigerators.

  If it is left unused for a while, it leaves a bitterness in the water, which is normal due to the carbon.

  The replacement costs 5-8 euros per month depending on where you buy it...

  The jug is relatively good and economical, all Brita jugs are okay. However, the ultimate jug is the ZeroWater. If you search for it, you will see many YouTube videos comparing it to Brita, etc. But the replacement for ZeroWater costs 15+ euros.

  It is better to prefer a countertop filter with a simple plastic and an internal matrikx pb1 carbon filter (if you want clean water) with all the certifications for carbon. If you want desalination + clean water, there are filters below and above the counter for 20-30 euros with active carbon and reverse osmosis that are cost-effective and do a better job. With 40 to 50 euros (filter + filter holder), you will have much better water than the jug. And also, the replacement for the system I mentioned (matrikx pb1, one of the cheapest and relatively good filters that cleans the water, but not for salts) costs 15-20 euros and lasts for 1 year or 9,000 (9 thousand liters) of water. And it is also at 0.5 microns. It is much more cost-effective and the water is of higher quality.

Even the expensive Aquametix at 80 euros per year turns out to be cheaper than the jug. Also, the aquametix is the best filter I have ever tried. Read my reviews to have a more accurate opinion.
