Soft pencil that writes easily and lasts a long time. The brush at the back helps with application, especially if you have applied balm underneath. The color is as it appears in the photos, but I wouldn't call it fuchsia. It's something between wine red and a little dark pink. Very nice even for the morning, especially if you are fair-skinned
