Description

Our language, one of the oldest languages in the world, has undergone phonetic and other changes over time, so many verbs are irregularly formed as they undergo thematic and inflectional alterations.

In order to facilitate the easier formation of various tenses, we present in detailed tables the conjugation forms in all the declensions and in the three persons of the singular number, and we list the Infinitives and Participles of all irregular verbs. Thus, the plural form is easy to form. In verbs that present difficulties, the plural form is also indicated.

At the end of the detailed tables of each verb, etymology is provided, showing its root origin, verb derivatives, synonyms, antonyms, useful grammar observations, and verb syntax.

In regular verbs, which are not included in the detailed tables, the first person singular of the initial tenses in the Indicative Active, Middle, and Passive voices is written, while in epic and poetic verbs, the first person singular in the Indicative Active, Middle, and Passive voices of those tenses that appear in ancient writers, and their citation in the works of ancient poets and prose writers, along with their translation, etymology, verb derivatives, synonyms, special notes, and syntax.

This dictionary -a supplemented and improved edition of the "Dictionary of Irregular Verbs" published in 1971- is mainly intended for secondary education students, but it is also useful for prospective students of theoretical schools, students, and generally for those who are interested in and deal with Ancient Greek language. It is an essential aid for understanding and forming various verb types in speech form and for studying and interpreting the texts of ancient Greek authors, poets, and prose writers.
