The TX-8270 from Onkyo belongs to the family of solid stereophonic integrated amplifiers. The integrated amplifier combines a pre-amplifier and a power amplifier in one device, so it can directly accept the signal from the respective source (cd/dvd player, turntable, radio, etc.) and transfer it to the speakers for playback. In this case, it operates with transistors or otherwise solid state. The power is 105W/4Ω or 60W/8Ω. It has a subwoofer output and a phono input, as well as a built-in radio. It is also equipped with wi-fi and bluetooth and has a built-in Airplay, Chromecast and Spotify. This combination allows you to wirelessly connect through your mobile or computer and enjoy your favorite music with better quality and higher volume.
Note: The phono input allows you to connect a turntable without an integrated preamplifier directly to the amplifier without connecting an intermediate and separate preamplifier.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
The only amplifier that combines HDMI in/out ports and 2.1 channels on the market right now.
I won't go into details about its sound quality, as the most important criterion for me was the abundance of features and connections it provides.
It supports up to AirPlay 2 (through the latest software update) and its other capabilities and conveniences cover everything a modern receiver can have at the moment.
It accepts and transfers (tested) 4K (3840x2160) 60HZ YCbCr444 12-bit video without any issues (as long as the appropriate source, TV, and HDMI 48Gbps cables that support this transmission are used).
The only negative aspect I will mention is a mechanical sound - click - that is heard at irregular intervals 2-3 times during a day, and the same sound is also produced by the TX-8250 model. Look for discussions about this phenomenon on foreign forums, as it seems to exist in other models of the company as well.
Overall, if you are looking for a 2.1 channel + subwoofer amplifier with HDMI, the choice of the Onkyo TX-8270 is a one-way street and will fully satisfy you.
