However, the company has now implemented a new policy and offers its own "cloud" with a monthly fee of 7 euros for monthly subscription. Moreover, since I do not use an SD card, I do not even receive motion detection notifications. I would like to emphasize that I am not disappointed with the camera as a device, as it is amazing and value for money, but rather with Xiaomi's customer treatment.

  I have had the camera for over 2 years, easy to use and everything is perfect.

  The only and perhaps the biggest negative is that Xiaomi now charges for video recording, which was free when I bought the camera, through Xiaomi cloud. Today, it asks for at least €6 for weekly video recording and €12 for monthly. Moreover, since the camera no longer records without a MicroSD, it doesn't even send notifications when it detects motion...

  If the above condition was valid at the time of purchase, I wouldn't comment on anything negative. The problem is that the company "deceived" the consumer with a service that no one offered, "built" a strong customer base compared to its competition, and then changed the conditions. This is a very worrying sign for the future and the vision of the company, as well as for its other "competitive" products.

  Unfortunately, my rating has nothing to do with the camera but with the mafia-like policy of the company. You will notice that all the ratings after May 2023 are for this reason

However, after years, when I reinstalled it, it gave me a lot of trouble and the installation was finally completed after I uninstalled the app from my phone and tablet and then reinstalled it. Also, the app does not send motion notifications; it sends them only after you open the app. So, one star because you buy a product to use it without having to refer to platforms and forums to find the solution. It should be simpler.

  Overall, it's a good camera with good image quality and easy installation. In all the cameras from this company, you can't adjust the motion sensitivity very precisely, nor can you set a predefined area within the image to monitor for motion, so it watches the entire image for movement and the presence of people, resulting in more false alerts. However, you can differentiate the alerts for the presence of a person in the area from simple motion detection. And while up to this point everything is generally good, and I would give it 4-5 stars for the quality-price ratio, after 3 years it no longer allows you to use their server unless you become a subscriber, cutting off your ability to distinguish between the presence of a person in the area and simple motion. As a result, the camera triggers for anything, and when you check to see what happened, you have to go manually to the card in the camera and find out where it triggered and why, which is very cumbersome and practically useless, as you then have to choose either to have it trigger for anything that moves or to pay to become a subscriber. The money isn't much; I think it's €5.5/month, but they don't mention this before you buy it... that's why 3 stars.

  By far the worst camera because at the stage where you connect it to your phone, it doesn't even scan the QR code. I have tried countless times and it has only connected twice in a span of 2 years, and it disconnected again due to my own mistake, and I am still trying to scan the QR. Please don't put yourself in this position and waste your time like I did, get one that you know connects directly. Thank you.

  I have 4 such cameras connected to 3 different networks and I can say that they are a very honest choice for monitoring the space. I read about many having connection issues, but this is almost always due to the routers and the settings of the networks or the mobiles.

  Everything works fine except for the motion detection notifications which sometimes are delayed... even a 5-minute delay is an eternity for the purpose they should serve.

  Excellent value for money for home use, they solve many cases for us that just a few years ago would have required a professional installation costing hundreds of euros.

  As an owner of an NVR recorder, my experience setting up a security camera was a painful one. Companies like Xiaomi make the difficult tasks incredibly easy. Terrific image quality.

  However, I didn't understand:

  Why the only notification method is a push notification on the mobile AND NOTHING ELSE. I couldn't believe it until I realized it. Even in the automation menu, there is nothing.

  No automation to upload anything to the cloud, only to a local NAS.

  I couldn't connect it with professional software like general CMS.

  I thought there would be some menu if you surfed to its IP.

  Another problem with the Mi Home app is that you can't set a download location; it can't download directly to the SD card.

  The whole automation is good, but you depend on Xiaomi and its software products.

  For example, if after x years they shut down the servers for this specific product, it automatically becomes useless.
