Description

The ALTA PRO 263AB 100 tripod along with the SBH-100 ball head create an impressive combination that provides the stability, durability, and reliability you want in your equipment. The 26mm aluminum alloy legs consist of 3 sections and can be adjusted to 25°, 50°, and 80° simply by pressing buttons for quick setup.

The Vanguard Alta Pro 263AB100 is a high-quality tripod kit with a head. It consists of a 3-section aluminum tripod and the Vanguard SBH100 ball head with a maximum supported load of 7 kgs. It stands out for its innovative central column design with the ability to lock at any angle in a very quick, easy, and secure way (MACC technology – Multi-Angle Central Column).

It has a low weight of 2.44 kgs, with a maximum operational height of 1.73 m and a transport length of 71.5 cm.

Its legs have the ability to independently adjust to an opening of 25°, 50°, or 80° and locks with a small 35° twist for rapid height adjustments. Rubber feet on the legs promise great stability on any terrain while the central column has a hook for optional counterweight attachment for maximum stability.

Additionally, the central column features a hexagonal design for maximum stability and its horizontal tilt can be adjusted from 0° to 180°.

Excellent tripod. Very good build quality and very sturdy. I use it for wildlife with a Nikon 200-500mm lens and a Nikon D3500 camera and it doesn't shake at all. Its weight doesn't bother me at all. And its great advantage is the ability to tilt the central column, very useful for macro photography as I also engage in that.

Very sturdy construction and at the same time flexible. Its strong point is the handle that can be horizontal, so you can take photos from top to bottom without the legs being visible.
The aluminum is a bit heavy, but not prohibitive for outdoor photography.

I have had it since 2015. It has endured countless "beatings" in adverse conditions, in saltwater, rivers, dirt, mud, rough rocks, etc. It has developed some issues with rust on the bottom where the screws and nails are inserted, but it still functions very well.
At the price I bought it (160€), to get something with similar features, you would have to turn to the Manfrotto 190, which costs 100€ more. The only good thing about Manfrotto (but infinitely important) is that there are spare parts available and you can easily get a part that is broken and replace it. In the case of Vanguard, I assume the alternative is to buy another tripod. One negative aspect is its weight (~2.5kg) and its size (~90cm minimum height), which makes it prohibitive for long hikes. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it!

From every perspective, it is an excellent product: very good build quality, easy to use, central column that offers the possibility of horizontal angle shooting, easy locking of the legs at three different angles, sturdy yet relatively lightweight, with its own carrying bag.
It has been voted by TIPA as the best photographic accessory in 2009, but it continues to be considered a top choice even today.
Obviously, it covers a specific range of needs - someone who wants something lightweight to carry with them daily would be better off looking towards Joby GorillaPod, as well as someone who wants to meet specific professional needs (supporting heavy weight, carbon-fiber construction instead of aluminum, etc.)
With a price of around 150 euros (the kit includes a head), it is an ideal solution for amateurs who are involved in macro photography, night shots, landscapes, etc., while offering features that one finds in much more expensive tripods.
