I like it much more up close as it is not as white as it appears in the photos. It is the color of sand and the blue is darker than in the pictures. Someone might be bothered by it, but personally I liked it more up close. It also has good shading, it doesn't show through. It definitely needs washing before sewing, I washed them on delicate with cold water and they were fine, no ironing needed.
