I have used many tracking devices but none of them were ever over €20, and none of them did their job properly.
I have been using this specific one for about 10 days, I charged it and it still has 80% battery. It has many functions, such as notifying me if it moves slightly (e.g. if someone lightly moves the machine) or if the GPS location changes by a few meters (e.g. a boat). You can also set a range where it will notify you if the vehicle goes outside of that radius. I use this feature and receive notifications every time I leave and return to my two regular parking spots (home/work). It also keeps a log of all the routes you have taken. I can say that it works very smartly as it is constantly in sleep mode and only activates when needed, such as if it is moved slightly or if you send it a command through the network (SMS, call). You can receive all the above notifications via SMS, through the application (there are two that support it), or through a browser.
At first, it is a bit strange to set up the APN, so I will provide instructions for anyone who has difficulty:
You activate GPRS with an SMS, then you configure the APN, and then restart (remove and reinsert the SIM card). Then wait for 5 minutes for it to receive the new settings and show the location in the application. If the device does not move for 5 minutes, it goes into sleep mode and does not accept commands. You need to wake it up with a call, SMS, or change of location, and then make your settings.
Also, consult the English manual available here: https://www.tk-star.com/download/TK905-Manual.html
Update: The battery easily lasts for 1 month (with all the above notifications active) and you receive a notification at 20% to charge it.
It only worked once. I sent it back and a few days later they sent me the same one back with a note saying "works normally" and crossed out with correction fluid "we tested it". The only thing that works normally is the light, and probably that’s all they checked. I now have a brand new broken GPS tracker and I can’t do anything about it.
After one year of continuous use, this GPS tracker does everything quite well for it's price.
The battery will last over a month at the proper setting.
If you're on the way I would suggest to change the time intervals to ( live) so you can track it uninterrupted.
It worked smoothly with Vodafone and Cosmote SIM,but also with other EU SIM.
Most important to make this device working is to read carefully the manufacturers instructions.
very good!! Its battery lasts about a month and something (approximately 45 days)... by only sending sms notifications and alert messages!!! Useful for remote use.
After a lot of searching through comments and videos, in addition to disabling the SIM pin, it also requires changing the network to 2G. I will return after long-term use for impressions.
I have had it for a month and it works perfectly. The reason I am giving 4 stars is its complexity. As I mentioned before, I have had it for a month and I am still trying to learn all its functions.
It didn't work for me as it needs to be charged every so often and also a SIM card that you always have to "feed." Maybe it is useful for occasional use
Generally, it requires a little effort in the set up. But there are helpful videos that guide you very well. As a device, it is sturdy and waterproof. The only problem is that after the last charge, the GPRS does not work.
Honest.
Does what it says.
Battery life lasts around 3 weeks.
Easy to set up like the application it has.
I use it with a planetsim card only with data, as if you use SMS, you "bleed"!!! The card runs out before you realize it.
I have bought and been using it in my car for about 1 year+. So far, I am very satisfied. Its battery life is long (I charge it once every 30-40 days). Its construction seems quite good and durable. It can also stick to metal surfaces (it has a strong magnet). It also has an application that you download on your phone and you can adjust, modify, and check the location easily and quickly. Additionally, you can set it to send push notifications to your phone when it goes in or out of a designated area that you set through the app (Geofence). If I remember correctly, the application also keeps a history of routes and you can set it to send push notifications when the battery is very low, even if you exceed a speed limit.
For the setup, you will need a SIM card (with mobile data and SMS) and the application.
The only negatives that I have noticed so far are the following:
- Its large size (which may explain the good battery life). You cannot easily hide it somewhere inside the car so that it cannot be found.
- Occasionally, it freezes and may not update the location (as if it goes into hibernation mode). However, this can be easily resolved by sending a simple SMS and it will start working again.
- Something that I encountered during the setup which was not clear in the instructions. The SIM card that you add to the device should not have a PIN activated, so that it can be "read", otherwise it will never work. This can be easily resolved by inserting the SIM into a mobile phone and deactivating the PIN from there.
In conclusion, based on all the above and the price that I see now, I highly recommend it.
I was very satisfied, my battery lasted about 45 days from the first charge. The settings were very easy, I can say, and it works very well through the application. I inserted a Cosmote card that only has data and not messages, and it works perfectly (of course, I don't use SMS). I hid it inside the car and it works great
Very good. It has everything you need to locate your vehicle and many more features with notifications that you activate based on your preferences. I have it with the planet sim and I am satisfied with the low cost. Tested it outside the European Union and the network worked perfectly.
Very good, worth the money and does what it promises. The only negative is that with use, the battery performance drops and it needs to be charged more often, but still lasts a long time. I will buy another one. For the connection, I followed the instructions of other users and everything went smoothly.
Easy setup, long battery life of over 20 days, sufficient accuracy in location, quite user-friendly application with free unlimited use without subscriptions or time restrictions. Worth its money.
1. You insert the sim into a phone device.
2. You disable the pin.
3. Settings - sim cards and mobile networks (or "mobile networks") - (select the number of the specific sim if the phone device accepts two cards) - preferred type of network - 2G.
4. You insert the sim into the tracker.
5. You ask the mobile company of the sim what the apn is for the specific number and you send the sms based on that (I won't mention what it was for my sim because they told me from customer service "the apn for YOUR number is this", so I won't confuse you).
These are to catch a signal and have the lights blinking. (We spent a day to get it online!)
After that, it goes on its own.
(The star is lost only due to the almost nonexistent instructions.)
The product does what it promises, very good and accurate in terms of distance. It was worth every penny. The only negative it has is the difficulty of the first GPS connection. You either have to be lucky or be the manufacturer.
We received it on 10/2/24. We set it up, sent the messages (which is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions but we saw it in a video) it worked for a few hours and then it is permanently out of order. Whatever I tried, it doesn't work.
We sent it for replacement.. they sent us another one (from a different store) and it permanently goes offline.
I have had it for 2 months and it has relieved my mind. It could definitely have a better price (inflation has hit us hard), but its operation is excellent. Tremendous accuracy in location and user-friendly application on the mobile phone. I got a 20 euro prepaid sim card from Cosmote and I don't think I will need to add more MB during the year because the consumption is minimal. Important: if you get a sim card that only has gigabytes for internet access, you will not be able to use the SMS function provided by the device (you will only be able to see the car's location through the app and not with coordinates from SMS - personally I do not consider it a great obstacle). In terms of battery, for a car that moves 3-4 times a week, it needs about one charge per month. For me, get it, it's worth it.

UPDATE
With enthusiasm, I ordered 2 more devices, for 2 more vehicles. One of them has been "spoiled" so far in terms of battery. It started with a noticeably faster discharge rate compared to the other devices (about 10 days while the others last a month) and now it discharges in a week.
I have not tried any other tracker to be able to compare. It shows the vehicle's location with great accuracy and has a sturdy construction. I bought it for €40 and the battery lasted for 20 days with the first charge. The application is simple, has settings to adjust, and is functional. So far, satisfied.
Quite a fair tracker for its price!
Follow the instructions to set it up correctly and there will be no problem.
Battery life lasts up to 14 days with normal use.
After 6 months of use, it works perfectly like the first week. I have received wrong alarms very few times, the only thing that will be needed is to place it in the right spot in your car or motorcycle.
Prefer an IoT card to have only an annual fee and avoid paying a monthly package to the traditional mobile providers (cosmote, vodafone, wind, etc).
Through the app, you are provided with real-time, historical route, geofence, and alarm setting.
Easy setup, I inserted a Cosmote SIM card, it found the GPS and the location signal on my mobile. I will definitely buy a second one. It's worth the money. And it arrived very quickly in my hands.
It works perfectly. It sends notifications, records, and is much easier to set up than other reviews suggest. It has the ability for live monitoring, route history, and alarms for Geofence, Overspeed, and Vibration. Specifically:
- "Geofence" defines a radius as a fence and sends a notification when the GPS Tracker enters or exits it.
- "Overspeed" notifies when it exceeds a specific speed limit.
- "Vibration" or "Shake" or "Shock" notifies when the Tracker's stillness or balance is disturbed.
If you are using it for anti-theft notification and don't want to receive 100 messages every time your vehicle moves, the best option is Geofence. I don't consider Overspeed to be particularly useful. While Vibration alarm is a good anti-theft solution, it will send you many unnecessary notifications while driving. In any case, you can customize which notifications and alarms you want to receive through the application. Note that every time the Tracker wakes up, it synchronizes its GPS and makes some jumps on the map, so I recommend setting Overspeed to something higher than 20km/h and Geofence radius larger than 200m.
In terms of cost and spam, it is preferable not to use SMS as a means of receiving notifications, but one of the applications. If you don't want your phone to constantly ring every time your vehicle moves, I suggest using the application on another device, such as a tablet you have at home.
Note that the GPS Tracker continues to record and update the server with its route regardless of whether notifications are received. You can also access it through a browser on the website "mytkstar.net" using the same login credentials as the application.
The data consumption in terms of Megabytes is negligible, less than 1MB per day. However, this number depends on the movements of your vehicle and the standby mode you have set. Between us, there is no reason to set a standby mode other than 24h or 12h. Standby mode determines how often the GPS Tracker sends its location regardless of whether there has been any movement, which I consider unnecessary. Regarding battery life, like with MB, it depends on your movements. Personally, it dropped by 32% in 20 days. With this in mind, I would say it easily lasts almost 2 months.
If the GPS Tracker is offline, it still works, it just saves energy. If you want to wake it up, a phone call from your mobile is enough. It will remain awake for 5 minutes, and if there is no movement, it will go back to sleep.
The process I followed to set it up is as follows:
1) Download the TKSTAR GPS application.
2) Insert a SIM card into the GPS Tracker to activate it.
3) Wait 1-2 minutes for the 2 LEDs, blue (GPS) and yellow (Data), to turn on continuously. If they keep blinking, it means you need to do the initial setup, proceed to step 4. If they blink, it means the device is ready for use, go to step 7.
4) Before sending a message, shake the GPS Tracker or call its SIM number to wake it up.
5a) Open the application and select "Resume SMS" to make the basic settings. Specifically, set the Admin number, turn on GPRS, and set the APN name.
5b) You can find the APN name through a Google search or from your provider. Indicatively: Cosmote: internet, Vodafone: internet.vodafone.gr, Nova: net.nova.is, Planetsim: apn
6) If the configuration is done correctly, the lights will start flashing.
7) Open the application or go back to the home screen and connect to mytkstar.net using the Tracker's ID and the code which is "123456" for all.
Through the application, you can now make changes to all settings. There is a second application called WINNES GPS which I personally use because in the GPS work mode option it has a standby of 24 hours compared to the other one which has 12, and it also has more options regarding the notifications sent by the application.
In short, TKSTAR GPS is good for the initial configuration of the Tracker and WINNES GPS for everything else.
My friend got it and didn't need to send a single SMS, it got a signal straight away and connected through the application to make the desired settings.
I have been using it for about two months and so far I haven't encountered any problems. The battery lasts for more than twenty days and its accuracy is quite good. It takes a little bit of work to set it up, but with the videos available on the internet, you won't have any issues.
I have had the device for 5 months. With one charge, the battery lasts for over 1 month in power-saving mode (sending a signal once every 24 hours). When the car is in motion, it sends a signal every 30 seconds, even when in power-saving mode. Therefore, it does not need to consume battery to send a signal from the parking spot unnecessarily every 1 minute or 1 hour, etc., as long as the vehicle is not moving.
The accuracy is mainly around 5-10 meters. Rarely have I seen larger deviations, but in any case, not serious ones.
The application requires a little exploration at the beginning for the connection, but afterwards, everything is very easy.
You just need a SIM card with data (I think just 2-3 MB per month are enough).
I bought it yesterday so I will write an update. Firstly, I had a lot of trouble with the activation messages (gprs123456 - apn123456 internet), it didn't send me any messages. After making a call to the device, the messages started coming. If they don't come again, write reset123456 and again gprs123456 - apn123456 internet, and the lights should start flashing.
Secondly, the recommended program, Winnes GPS, does not synchronize with the device, so I downloaded the TKSTAR GPS and it connects perfectly.
For 20 days it worked very well.
After 20 days, it completely stopped working.
I sent it to the store and they replaced it for me because it was defective with a used one.
And this one is the same. It suddenly stopped working after a few days.
Truly a waste of money. If something is so bad, they shouldn't even sell it.
Cheapness eats away at the quality...
