When I agreed to preface the book you are holding, I imagined it would be another edition focusing on popular sports (basketball-football), with tributes and photos of them. I was pleased to find that it was not exactly like that. I believe that every sports fan will feel waves of pride coursing through their body, watching the titles won by Panathinaikos, from 1908 to today. The nearly 1,500 titles are, without a doubt, a unique and unparalleled achievement. Even more importantly, however, is that these titles were not only won by basketball players or footballers, but also by athletes of all ages in 26 different sports. As an athlete, initially of the youth basketball team and later of the men's team, I celebrated dozens of unforgettable successes and continue to do so today, serving Panathinaikos from different positions. I can confidently tell you that the reason the basketball team evolved into the most successful in Greece is the fact that it was never alone. The motto "together in joy and sorrow" became a way of life. Athletes, officials, management, coaches, and fans were always ONE. Thus, inevitably, the joys were and remain more than the sorrows. I therefore invite the fans of Panathinaikos to embrace, with the same warmth, all the sports of our Club. Because, behind the glory and popularity of the basketball and football departments, lies an unknown world of dozens of competitive departments, which, over the years, have made Panathinaikos the "king" of Greek sports. Today, under enormous difficulties, boxers and divers, wrestlers and track and field athletes, fight battles with themselves against the adversities of everyday life, to keep the green flag flying high. Applaud them in victories and stand by them after defeats. And they will reciprocate.
