First time owner of a smartwatch, specifically Garmin. The first impression is excellent overall. Below I will write some advantages but also some disadvantages, according to the use I have made so far.
- Very good appearance and excellent material quality. The buttons look qualitative but could be better.
- Many applications that help in everyday life but also in many sports activities.
- I think it is mainly aimed at people interested in activities and less at people who mainly want a smartwatch. It was also a reason why I acquired it. It helps me a lot in my workouts and sports activities, giving me motivation for progress.
- It helps me a lot in my work with the many weather-related data (barometer, altimeter, thermometer). Sometimes it needs calibration to receive the correct data, which is logical. The thermometer cannot be accurate due to its position, but still, it helps in environmental conditions. The heart rate measurements are very close to reality. It is definitely not the same as a heart rate monitor belt.
- High accuracy in GPS data outdoors, but difficult to poor GPS reception indoors.
- The most important issue I have identified is the connection with the mobile's Bluetooth, maybe it's the mobile's fault, time will tell. While it appears connected within a reasonable distance, up to 6-7 meters, it does not display notifications. I reconnect and receive them.
- The battery is satisfactory. With 4-5 activities of 1-1.5 hours and using all the data, I charge it once a week. It is still early to judge correctly.
- Floors, steps, etc. are at a satisfactory level.
Overall, I believe that at the price it is offered today, it is a very good tool. I hope I helped.

I was the owner of a Samsung Galaxy Gear S2 for 3+ years. I have purchased it 2 days ago. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy Gear S2, the Fenix 5 is a sportwatch. Do not expect to have the functions of a smartwatch.

I bought it for the following reasons/advantages:
1. Much longer battery life. After 2 days of regular use, it is at 85%. The other one needed daily charging.
2. Waterproof up to 100 meters, no need to take it off when swimming in the sea or elsewhere (pool, bathtub).
3. Much better appearance (subjective) and build quality.
4. Many features for sports that interest me. The Gear S2 had some sports functions, but not to the extent of the Fenix 5.
5. Significant price reduction (369 euros) due to the release of the Fenix 6.

Disadvantages:
1. Screen that is not easily visible in a room. You have to press the backlight to read clearly. It has much better readability in an outdoor space with natural light. It does not have the Gear S2 system where the screen automatically lights up when you turn your wrist/watch towards your eyes.
2. It does not have the functions of a smartwatch, most notably the lack of music control.
3. Menu a bit difficult to use (subjective). It does not have a touch screen or a rotating bezel. It lacks ease of use.
4. It does not have the sapphire display, so I got a protective glass to avoid annoying scratches.

At 369 euros, I consider it an opportunity, of course, ONLY for those who need it. I will come back later to complete the evaluation.

I got the watch yesterday and decided to write a review. The truth is, I'm not the fitness type, so it exceeds my needs by far, but I will write as much as I can to help. I bought it for 369€ from a well-known chain. The watch charges very quickly, but with everything open, it needs to be charged every day. So far, I do it in the afternoon. I have only tried it on steps for now, tomorrow I will go for a walk. I counted the steps and they are accurate by 99%. It missed one floor out of ten. I have an iPhone and both the connection with the app and the app itself work perfectly. From what I saw, it has a lot of sports to choose from. It has several options to customize how the watch looks, and you can also download free skins from the store. It is a heavy watch, and even though I have a small wrist, I can't say it bothers me. For me, it may have been an exaggeration, but overall it is a commendable more athletic watch and less of a smartwatch. I mainly use it for walking and a few hikes, so when I notice something more specific, I will come back.

Update 5/9: So, after a month of use, I decided to come back with some details. As I mentioned, I'm not the most athletic type, but I have started walking quite a bit for now. The GPS takes about 15-16 seconds to sync, which is not a problem for me, but it may concern some people, so I mentioned it. The altimeter is seriously malfunctioning, meaning that next to the sea, it showed that I was at -20 meters altitude for the entire route, and also on the balcony of my 4th-floor apartment, it showed -10 altitude. This is probably why it also loses accuracy in counting floors. It shows 8 out of the 10 floors I climb. Now, the app is perfect, and the website, if you want even more analysis, is amazing.

I give 3 stars because the measurements on the steps and especially in the sea are often wrong. Sometimes it shows the same distance as 100 meters, then 45 meters, and sometimes it doesn't measure at all. When I simply sit, it starts measuring randomly.
The connection with the mobile and the Garmin app is lost even when it's right next to it!
Battery life is constantly decreasing: first time was 1 week, then 5 days, and now 4... I hope there is no issue.
I did a reset on the watch as advised by the Garmin technical support, but unfortunately, it's still the same.
The watch is worth its money, if these details are fixed it will be perfect.

I sent the watch to Garmin and after 10 days!!!!! they replaced it due to rust!!!!
Unfortunately, even though the measurements are mostly accurate, it has frozen twice after charging... I will return it and ask for a refund (although I doubt it).

I got my money back from the first store and as a "smart" person, I bought it again from another store, but unfortunately, it's the same again... I'm at the sea, it shows 22m altitude, I'm on the 4th floor, it shows -10m, in swimming the same distance is sometimes 5, sometimes 100, sometimes it doesn't measure at all... (ridiculous), connection with the mobile is one out of five times, rust from the first month where it charges, I sent it to the service (Germanos) 15 days ago and no update, I sent 2 emails and made 2 calls and they keep saying they will notify me!!!!
Four other friends who bought it have the same problems, Garmin's reputation is a shame...
Better to buy Chinese products where you know what you're getting (even though you don't have many hopes) and you don't spend 400 euros.
