Automatic high-speed drill driver with 38,250 impacts per minute and 3 mechanical transmission speeds with all-metal gears for increased operating time and longer tool life. It features an 11-position adjustable torque selector for uniform results and greater precision in screwing, and a keyless chuck with automatic spindle lock for quick accessory changes.
Versatile Design that Stands Out
It has a smart switch design that allows full control during application and an improved grip that provides maximum comfort. Additionally, the sliding battery function (not included) allows for easy removal and reattachment to the tool, while a steel belt clip and durable magnetic bit holder provide flexible storage and operation solutions.
Brushless Motor without Carbon Brushes
It features a brushless motor that produces less heat and friction, resulting in less motor wear and longer battery life. It also provides more consistent power and speed, allowing for smoother and more precise operation.
In general, brushless motors are more efficient and have a longer lifespan than brushed motors, making them a popular choice for power tools.
With LED Lighting
Comes with a bright white LED that has a delay function for better visibility and increased functionality, even in the darkest work areas.

It took a little while to arrive.
Also, the rating refers more to the product.
It was a necessary choice because I already had the same one, whose trigger had broken and it works intermittently when you press it, and its replacement, according to the service team's words, was not cost-effective.
I had bought it about 2-3 years ago.
So I got the same one to save on battery costs.
It is worth noting that the machine had been used relatively little.
Powerful tool, slightly heavier than the DCD 785 I had, but a small difference. Switched to DCD996 for more power in drilling into concrete, as well as the option for handle use with the DWH201D accessory.
Sturdy construction and very good lighting performance! The top drill driver from Dewalt!
Needs attention with the speeds because the 1st and 2nd are very powerful, the clutch does not stop easily, use the 3rd for screwing/finishing screws in lights, sockets, wood screws, etc. Also, in difficult holes, the handle should be used with caution as one can get injured (it does not have anti-rotation protection).
It has been mentioned that the tool is not centered, but that is not true, it simply requires better handling when positioning the respective bit/accessory.
The only negative is that in case of changing the chuck, the whole tool needs to be opened, whereas in the previous model I had, it could be changed directly with a screw.. (although being metallic, it is unlikely to get damaged)
The positives:
- Very durable construction
- Convenient handle
- The battery really lasts impressively long (no need to carry the charger with you)
- Very powerful motor, stronger than the electric socket one I have
- I like that I can position the handle at any angle.
- The three speeds are really useful
- The lens function seems like a small touch but it's incredibly convenient, especially when working without power (general power outage).
The negatives:
- It is heavy, especially with my 5Ah battery, it strains the hand if you drill into the ceiling
- The chuck 'plays' a little externally* and sometimes gets stuck when you try to close it.
- You can't just change the chuck (they didn't put a screw), which means it's not a small expense to change it, to the point where it's more cost-effective to get the new model instead of replacing it.
- The speed change also gets stuck, rarely of course, but it happens.
- I'm not a fan of the electric clutch. It measures the torque from the electric load of the motor, so setting 1, for example, doesn't stop at the same load if it's in the third speed or the first speed.
* Nevertheless, the tool seems unaffected.
Overall, I am satisfied with the price of 340 that I bought it for, and it definitely does its job. However, my logic was to buy a top-of-the-line model even though I didn't need it, so that I wouldn't have any problems, as theoretically they wouldn't cut corners and the quality control would be stricter. Unfortunately, the issue with the chuck worried me, and it's not covered by the warranty as it is considered consumable, so if I were to buy again, I would probably go for Milwaukee or Makita.
I put it to drill a concrete wall with plenty of stones, consecutively and with battery changes for an hour: it didn't understand anything... I changed 4 drill bits and 4 batteries... No problem. A bit heavy with the 5A battery, more comfortable with the 3A but it's worth every penny.
This particular model is the most powerful one from DeWalt. Although the overall quality is at high levels, what I personally would like to be more refined is the speed switch and the function of the chuck, which seems a bit off-center and not 100% precise. This doesn't affect its functionality, but it's a bit annoying when you're paying so much money. Of course, from what I know, when a drill driver has a hammer function, the precision of the chuck is slightly compromised. Other than that, the tool works wonders and can handle tough tasks effortlessly. As for its durability, even though I use it as a hobbyist but quite frequently, only time will tell.
Excellent drill, very powerful... I have drilled holes in concrete, metal, and wood and it does it with great ease without any difficulty... I also have its sibling, which is a cordless screwdriver... It is a bit heavy due to the battery, but it doesn't bother me... Also, on YouTube, there are many comparisons with other brands of equal power, but Dewalt surpasses them... I highly recommend it with closed eyes
