In this anthology, eleven exemplary representatives of world literature are presented, each of whom uniquely highlights the relationship that has developed between humans and cats. A common characteristic of all these stories is the instinctive disposition for independence of the animal, which makes it seem as if it is claiming a relationship of reciprocity from humans. Thus, humanized relationships are described that refer to the tendency for freedom, love, jealousy, sexuality, and intelligence. The cat, more than any other animal, maintains its own way of life, yet adapted to an entirely human environment, but at the same time filled with demanding meows and languid purrs!
