Purely for fans of the series, the epic remaster where everything has been improved in all 4 games it includes. The cutscenes are amazing, including those from the 2 movies! (365/2-Re:CoM)
Here we have a collection of six incredibly nice games. If you like the combination of Disney, Original Anime Characters, and Final Fantasy, along with the feel of JRPGs, you will love it.
Although Tetsuya Nomura has written scenarios that often do not answer all the questions, he delivers a story that simply leaves you captivated.
The first Kingdom Hearts, despite its shortcomings in gameplay, the story and characters have a positive impact on the start of the franchise.
Chain of Memories, although it has a confusing story and gameplay that many complained about, sets the stage for Kingdom Hearts 2 and introduces many new characters that will be useful in the next games.
358/2 Days, although it is a movie with no gameplay, helps us understand the lore and what happens on the side of the villains, and sets the stage for Kingdom Hearts 2.
Let's say that the second Kingdom Hearts skyrocketed the franchise with its wonderful gameplay, perfect heartfelt story, and characters we identified with, and sets the stage for the third game.
Birth By Sleep, although a prequel, laid a solid foundation for what will happen between 2 and 3 (Recoded, Dream Drop Distance, BBS 0.2, Back Cover). Its story was by far the best in the franchise, although things were not pleasant in the end. The gameplay resembled that of KH 2 with a few differences.
Although considered a spin-off, ReCoded provides IMPORTANT ELEMENTS for the world of Big Hero 6 in Kingdom Hearts 3. It has a story that, although time-consuming, is well-written and explains many questions while also providing a recap and a new story.
Overall, the I.5 + II.5 Remix is a collection worth getting if you want to enjoy this beautiful franchise, especially since Kingdom Hearts 3 has been released. It is a good way to prepare, and at a price of 20€, it's an opportunity.
Final Score: 8/10
It is a collection of 6 incredible games. It is definitely worth it for its price (it was 20€ when I bought it). It is a great way for someone to get into the series, especially since Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming out in less than a month. It has outdated graphics, but most of the games are remastered versions of the original games, which were released in the early 21st century. I highly recommend it to every Disney fan and generally to every gamer
I have extensively dealt with this series of games on the PS2 console. When I was younger, of course, I was excited about it. I recently won it in a contest and I felt nostalgic to try it again, as this collection is one of the most comprehensive in the market. The sound effects are naturally exceptional, and the storyline is at a very high level.
Unfortunately, however, it seemed outdated to me now, and I would not recommend it to someone who wants to start this series now. I think it's too childish, and the only reason to dedicate a few hours to the game is purely nostalgia. I believe that even the Hard Core Fans will not be able to finish them again from the beginning. Their main problem, besides their overly childish perspective, is undoubtedly the gameplay, the awkward camera, and the annoying battle system. Especially in the first title of the series, the negatives outweigh the positives by far.
Nevertheless, they remain very good games (for their time, of course), and this particular package is a first-class opportunity to have them in your collection.
If you're not familiar with the series in general, you probably have to really enjoy the whole culture to start it at an advanced age, check something more mature.
For a child, it's endless hours of enjoyment, if they like Disney or Final Fantasy, get it, it's infinitely worth it as a gift, it's 4 games of 20+ hours each (probably much more for a child)
