New limits of expression in macro photography
Unleash your macro creativity. This prime lens features an astonishing magnification ratio of up to 1.25x (2.5x) – the highest for a macro lens in its class. At the same time, the image quality remains top-notch with incredible detail, delivering beautiful blurring and smooth bokeh. With a minimum focusing distance of 14mm, you can capture an entire macro world invisible to the naked eye.
All M.ZUIKO lenses are compatible with the full range of OLYMPUS PEN and OM-D cameras, as well as other MFT cameras.
The result? The highest autofocus speed for a lens in its class – ideal for nature photography.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Lens very small, lightweight, plastic, metal mounting base, relatively fast af.
It has no buttons on it, only a manual focus ring.
Very good quality, both for macro and regular photos.
It does not have dust protection, so it requires caution.
I recommend it.
Extremely sharp macro lens
Affordable and extremely sharp, it is a great choice for a macro lens.
It provides impressive magnification but you need to get very close to the subject
I bought it during the BF sales for €137 including shipping, at this price there was no reason not to buy it.
I use it with a Panasonic GX9.
Pros: lightweight, very sharp, 1.25:1 magnification, for FF you will need a 2.5:1 lens for the same magnification.
Cons: f/3.5, no stabilization, no focus limiter or magnification indicator, no lens hood included.
The lens is very sharp, the focus is fast and accurate. The lack of stabilization in the lens is only noticeable if you have used a lens with Dual IS and compare it, otherwise the camera's IBIS is sufficient. The lens definitely needs a lens hood, fortunately the JJC LN-46S fits perfectly and can be found on eBay for €13-€15. The lens can also be comfortably used as a "standard" normal lens if you don't need a brighter one.
At the price of €260, and if you don't need the 1.25:1 magnification or/and have a Panasonic camera with DUAL IS, it is more advisable to go for the Panasonic 30mm f/2.8. If you have an Olympus camera, I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed with the optical quality. Some "negatives" that need further mention are the minimum focusing distance to achieve maximum magnification, only 14 millimeters (1.4 cm) from the lens (!!!), you almost touch it. If you plan to photograph insects, look at the 60mm lens, but if you are shooting still objects in the studio, especially jewelry, the lens is perfect. Another negative is the complete absence of a magnification scale, in MF you reach the minimum focusing distance (indicated only on the screen) and with forward-backward movement you focus with 1.25:1 magnification, there is no simple way to achieve any other magnification, such as 1:1, 1:2, etc.
The lens is also compatible for video, almost completely silent and compatible for 4Kphoto focus stacking on Panasonic cameras. You can find some initial photo samples here: [~ https://flic.kr/s/aHsmJZuUEX ]
