It came into my possession recently, as it was intended to carry out various tasks within the framework of renovations in my personal spaces.
What the potential buyer needs to know from the beginning is that this is a high-quality, sturdy, and above all powerful SDS Plus hammer drill. It's not lightweight (>3kg), but it is very convenient to hold. It has a rubber handle that makes it comfortable for any task.
In practice:
It is truly amazing how easily it drills through reinforced concrete (with a quad cutter drill bit). I mainly drilled with 8mm and 10mm drill bits.
Where it was extensively used is in electrical work. Specifically, for opening channels in walls and floors. With the right chisels, you can do everything.
It is worth noting that I was particularly impressed by the fact that it did not heat up significantly during drilling. This is due to the new motor it incorporates, called Marathon.
It was not used for drilling into wood or metal.
I will mention 2-3 additional features that are worth mentioning for this machine.
1. As mentioned earlier, it incorporates a new generation Marathon motor. With this innovation, Metabo has achieved more power, much better dust protection, and better air cooling under heavy loads. This also results in a longer lifespan.
2. It has an electronic system that helps maintain a stable speed under load.
3. It alerts you to any overload.
It comes with two chucks, an SDS Plus and one for cylindrical shank drills, a depth guide, and a plastic case.
To summarize and judge based on all of the above, I can say that it is definitely worth its money, especially at the price of €246 at which I bought it from abroad, including the set of Metabo drills. In Greece, it is sold for €330 without the set.
UPDATE 16/9/2019
I want to add a comment regarding the temperature. I used it continuously for hours to remove floor tiles, and the machine heated up normally and not excessively. The motor housing is made of metal, not plastic, which helps dissipate heat.
Another thing I want to add is that while I used it in a very dusty environment, the motor remained clean throughout. This is one of the advantages of Marathon.
Using it, I discovered how effortlessly and comfortably you can do your work with such a powerful tool. I can't find any negatives to attribute to it. It truly is one of the best purchases I have made.
UPDATE 19/8/2020
After a year of intense and frequent use, I was notified via the LED about the carbon brushes. In communication I had with Metabo Hellas to find out the code, they gave me a code that included the carbon brushes along with the direction switch. I received this code wherever I looked. However, this was not necessary since it is possible to replace only the carbon brushes. Additionally, it would increase the cost as expected. In the end, I received the carbon brushes from an authorized Metabo power tool repair shop, and the code for these specific brushes is 316034960. I mention this for anyone who wants to replace them themselves, as this specific code is not listed anywhere.
Personally, I had to disassemble half of the machine to replace them, and on this occasion (although it was not necessary), I also proceeded to change the motor shaft bearings with bearings from a well-known company (very low cost). Additionally, grease was applied to the moving parts (gearbox). I should note that this is the first time I have seen such a clean (internally) tool, despite being used in adverse conditions.
