In this book, for the first time, all the documents of the criminal file of the historical leader of the communist movement, Nikos Zachariadis, are presented as they are today in the archives of the Greek police authorities. They are accompanied by a detailed historical introduction and editing, so that as a whole and individually, properly placed in the historical place and time, they are accessible to every reader and offer historical knowledge. This file reached the Newspaper of the Editors - after a journalistic investigation - in December 2015 and we presented it in four publications from December 21 to December 24, 2015. However, we knew from the beginning that this presentation was not enough and that the material of the file as a whole, with the appropriate historical editing, had to reach the reading audience - the ordinary reader, but also the historian, the scientist. Our collaboration with Kastaniotis Publications made our desire a reality with this very carefully edited edition.

The view of the Newspaper of the Editors was and remains that we need to know more deeply the history of our place as it really was, through documents and indisputable historical facts. Faced with the historical past, we do not position ourselves as prosecutors, judges, defense lawyers, or political action, but only with the desire to highlight the truth, to learn and understand. The readers always have the final say in the result of our work.
