"Certainly, if we were lucky enough to have supportive parents, then we have the advantage of receiving beneficial messages from a young age:
"You can be who you are."
"You can think what you think."
"You can feel what you feel."
"You can take your own risks."
"You must search on your own to find what you need, because that means growing up, being mature, and self-reliant."
These privileged children jump on their own from the trampoline and dive into life from a favorable point.
Of course, not everyone is so lucky.
So, those who weren't as fortunate will need someone to help them, even if it's a book like this."
After the international (and Greek) best sellers: "Let Me Tell You a Story," "Stories to Think About," and "Count on Me," Opera editions continue publishing the works of Jorge
Bucay with "The Road to Self-Reliance," the first of a series of four volumes that make up the "Road Maps" of the popular Argentine psychiatrist.
In his "Road Maps," the psychiatrist-psychotherapist prevails over the narrator. The advisory
role, which is Bucay's main professional occupation, takes up more space as, for the search for a hidden meaning, not only a story is required, but also a theoretical background that is provided here for the first time to the reader.
Indeed, in his previous three books available in Greek, we had known Bucay as a narrator, conversationalist, and professional user of parables in the therapy of his patients, but we missed Bucay the doctor, the scientist with a crystallized view of life and his science, who decides to reveal himself in "The Road to Self-Reliance." However, he does not create a "theoretical text," but rather exposes his views on what allowed him to navigate his life as a psychotherapist. He lays out his maps, his "Road Maps," as he would in a friendly conversation where he would answer the question: "Who are you, doctor, and how do you think?"

Compared to the rest of the books by Boukai, I consider it to be lacking. While it is easy to read at the beginning and keeps your interest with the knowledge it conveys, it becomes repetitive and more theoretical as it progresses. From a certain point onwards, it becomes tiring and you constantly read the same things in different words.
