This volume contains a narrative by the historian and poet J. R. R. Tolkien (1892 - 1973)

From the story of the Little Kingdom, few excerpts remain. However, by pure chance, a tale that sheds light on its origin has been saved - or rather, not a tale, but rather a legend, because it is obvious that it is a later compilation, filled with supernatural events that do not come from the sober Chronicles, but from the folk songs to which the anonymous author frequently refers. For him, the events he records already belong to a distant past, but it seems that he himself lived in the territory of the Little Kingdom. The geographical knowledge he has to show off (which is nothing remarkable) only concerns that region, while he seems to ignore the rest of the country in the north and west.
